How to pitch brands as a UGC creator

A good pitch is short, specific and easy to say yes to. Here's who to pitch, what to include, and templates you can make your own.

Pick brands you'd actually film

  • Brands you already use: your videos will be more believable, and you can mention it in the pitch.
  • Brands running creator ads: if you see creator videos in their ads, they buy UGC.
  • Brands with creator programs: many DTC brands have an apply page. Search the brand name plus “creator program” or “ambassador”, or browse the SQWAD brand directory.

What every pitch needs

  1. One line on who you are and your niche.
  2. Why their product fits your content, in one sentence.
  3. Your best video link, ideally in a similar category.
  4. One concrete idea for a video you'd make for them.
  5. A simple next step, like sending product or a quick call.

Skip long bios and follower screenshots. The video link does the work.

Email template

Subject: UGC idea for [Brand]: [one-line video idea] Hi [Name], I'm [Your name], a [niche] creator. I've been using [product] for [time] and I'd love to make content for it. Idea: [one sentence on the video, e.g. a 30-second "morning routine" featuring the product]. Here's a recent video in a similar style: [link] If you're open to it, I can film this as soon as product arrives. Happy to work with your creator program or a simple product-for-video trade to start. [Your name] [Handle] · [Portfolio link]

DM template

Hi! I'm [name], I make [niche] videos ([handle]). I love [product] and have an idea for a video: [one sentence]. Here's my best work: [link]. Do you work with creators? Would love to send a sample.

Keep DMs to three or four lines. If they have a creator program, they'll usually send you the link.

Or skip the cold pitch

Brands with creator programs already want applications. Applying is faster than pitching and usually gets a clear yes or no.

Apply to brands in one tap. A free SQWAD creator profile saves your socials, best videos, sizes and shipping address once. Use it to quick apply to any brand on SQWAD, and let brands that fit your niche invite you.

Follow up once, then move on

If you don't hear back in about a week, send one short follow-up with a new video link. After that, move on and keep pitching. A steady habit of a few pitches a week beats one perfect pitch.

Frequently asked questions

Should I pitch brands by email or DM?

Email is better for a clear pitch with links, especially to a marketing or creator team address. DMs work well for smaller brands. Either way, keep it short.

What should I charge when a brand says yes?

Many creators start with free product plus commission, then add a flat fee per video as their portfolio grows. Agree on deliverables, deadlines and usage rights before you film.

Do I need a media kit?

Not to start. A link to your best videos and a short description of your niche and audience is enough.
